The College has been trying to expand its (extra-) curriculum by introducing music to the students, in both vocal and instrumental areas. Vocals do not require individual musical instruments, other than the voice. However, instrumental music requires individual musical instruments, and this means that these instruments must be acquired. Since music is not yet part of the academic curriculum, the government would not subsidize the costs of the acquisition of instruments, so the College appealed to the Toronto alumni (SSCGAS) to help acquire the needed instruments. SSCGAS reviewed the request and agreed to provide the funds for the purchase. The instruments were obtained, and the students expressed their thanks and sent a photo of some instruments in use.
