These awards are designed to assist those in financial need and to recognize strong academic potential.

About the SSCGAS Bursary Program

The St. Stanislaus College (Guyana) Alumni Society is proud to offer annual bursaries of up to $500 to support students of Guyanese heritage in Canada who are pursuing post-secondary education.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to our membership and community, helping the next generation achieve their educational goals.

Who Can Apply?

The bursary is open to students meeting the following criteria:

  • Eligibility Through Sponsorship: The student must be the child or grandchild of a sponsor who:

    • Is of Guyanese heritage and a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
    • Attended St. Stanislaus College, Guyana.
    • Is a SAINTS member in good standing (current with dues and at least five years of active membership).
  • Academic Excellence:

    • Achieved a minimum B average (70%+) over the last academic year with no failed courses.
    • Must provide proof of academic performance (e.g., transcripts).
  • Character and Involvement:

    • Demonstrates strong personal and social skills through extracurricular activities such as volunteering or sports.
    • Secures two letters of reference from academic staff attesting to good character and behavior.

Award Details

  • Award Value: Up to $500 (towards books and school essentials).
  • Annual Renewal: Prior winners can reapply, but no student may receive the bursary more than four times.
  • Number of Awards: Determined annually based on resources and qualified applicants.

How to Apply

  1. The sponsor must complete the application form and submit it with all required documentation.
  2. Applications must be received at least three months before the funding is required.

About The Bobby Fernandes Scholarship: Empowering Students in Guyana

The St. Stanislaus College (Guyana) Alumni Society is honoured to offer the Bobby Fernandes Scholarship, designed to support students in Guyana pursuing higher education in fields related to environmental studies or fine arts. This scholarship reflects Bobby’s passion for education and commitment to these important disciplines.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support, including:

  • Tuition fees
  • A laptop
  • Books and project costs
  • Transportation expenses

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Demonstrated Financial Need

    • Priority will be given to students who lack the financial means to fund their education independently.
  2. Academic and Extracurricular Excellence

    • Open to both male and female students who excel academically and participate actively in extracurricular activities.
  3. Educational Enrollment

    • Applicants must have confirmed acceptance at the University of Guyana (UG) or a technical institution in Guyana.
  4. Program Alignment

    • The program of study should align with Bobby Fernandes’ interests in environmental studies or fine arts.

Scholarship Details

  • Duration: Up to 4 years, subject to annual performance reviews.
  • Assessment: The scholarship committee will reassess costs and performance at the end of each academic year to ensure continued eligibility.
  • Service to the College: The committee may recommend that recipients contribute to St. Stanislaus College post-graduation, such as teaching or other forms of service.
